It is increasingly rare to find such beautiful early teapots that are in good condition complete with their original stand, as this one is.

The teapot, cover and stand are all oval in shape and beautifully decorated with the same wide band of floral and gilt decoration.

The main body of the teapot has around the shoulder a band of decoration that has large flowers painted in orange, gilt and with purple foliage. This decorative band is bounded by rich gilt lines around the teapot's body.

Above this band of floral decoration is beautifully gilt sprays of flowers and foliage around the top of the teapot's body.

The same delightful floral decoration is applied in the same wide band around the lid of the teapot, again this is bounded with a rich honey coloured gilt line to either side.

The elegantly curved spout to the teapot is enriched with gilt foliate decoration to the front face and has a gilded tip.

On the back of the tip of the spout are further gilt embellishments.

Balancing the elegant spout there is a simple open loop handle. This has a gilt line applied to each side and also down the centre of the handle.

The inside of this teapot is beautifully clean and there are a set of straining holes leading into the spout. The underside of the teapot is marked with the New Hall pattern number 317, marked in purple.

The elegant oval lid has an oval finial to it with applied spiral gilt lines.

It is wonderful that this teapot is complete with its original teapot stand. It has the same applied floral decoration as the teapot and cover. It is marked on the underside with the same New Hall pattern number 317 in purple.

In the centre of the teapot stand is a single floral sprig of orange, purple and rich gilding. This is in the middle of an oval gilt cartouche. It is a beautiful and excellent condition teapot stand and cover from the famous New Hall factory c1810

This is a charming and very decorative New Hall oval teapot and stand, Pattern 317. Purple, orange & gilt floral decoration, c1810.
