A very attractive Worcester 'Flight' period tea bowl and saucer
decorated in a very elegant gold foliate and star design with at its centre, a
golden anchor. This tea bowl and saucer is of the 'shanked' (spiral moulded)
type, with very finely potted body. Both the tea bowl and saucer have a
scalloped and gilded rim. Although the tea bowl and saucer are not marked with a
manufacturer, the design, fine potting and body material indicate it to come
from the Worcester factory c1790.

The tea bowl has on the outside round the top a border of gilt
foliate and star design edged by a solid gilded line that runs round the central
body of the tea bowl. A further gild line runs round the raised foot of the tea
bowl. The quality and fineness of this rich honey coloured glaze decoration is
superb.

The rim of the tea bowl is gilded and on the inner rim is
a tiny foliate garland running round it.
This very elegant design includes at the base of the tea bowl a
gilded anchor, with scrolled anchor rope.

The saucer is of the same finely moulded shanked shape as the
tea bowl and carries the same very high quality gilded decoration.

The decoration includes the foliate and star border and central
gilded anchor.
All of the gilding is of the finest quality and a rich honey
colour.

There are no manufacturer's marks on the tea bowl or saucer, but
is from the famous Worcester factory c1790

This is a very elegant Worcester tea bowl and saucer,

this very elegant tea bowl and saucer is generally in very good condition
with no major chips, cracks or restoration and the gilding is in very good
condition with no sign of rubbing. the only very minor imperfection is a tiny
hairline crack to the rim of the saucer approx 8mm in length, as shown in the
two pictures below. This is very minor and insignificant. It is an excellent
Worcester tea bowl and saucer for the collector of Worcester or early English
porcelain.
