An elegantly decorated Worcester tea bowl, 'new fluted' moulded design, c1790. The tea bowl is exquisitely decorated with an underglaze blue and gilt decoration including pretty flower sprigs. There are three main flower sprigs around the body of the tea bowl, these interspersed with a simple gilt foliate design.

Around the body of the tea bowl there is a border on underglaze blue with scalloped gilt edges above which a further border of underglaze blue dots linked with gilded foliage.

In the base of the tea bowl is a blue and gilt central flower within a gilt circle. This circle has about it a gilded and entwined foliate garland. The scalloped rim of the tea bowl is also gilded in the same rich honey coloured gilding.

The tea bowl stands upon a raised circular foot rim that has round it a gilded line. The underside of the tea bowl is marked with the Worcester under glaze blue open crescent mark. this mark was used at the famous Worcester factory c 1783-92. This particular design dates from c1790.

This is a charming Worcester tea bowl with elegant blue and gilt flower decoration, c1790.

Marks:

The underside of the tea bowl is marked with the Worcester under glaze blue open crescent mark. this mark was used at the famous Worcester factory c 1783-92. This particular design dates from c1790.

Condition:

This delightful Worcester tea bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration. the only very minor imperfection is very slight wear to the gilding, particularly to the  central flower in the base of the bowl and a few of the high spots on the scalloped rim.
