Worcester 'Royal Lily' or 'Queen Charlotte' Pattern Tea Bowl, c1790

A Worcester Tea Bowl, decorated in the pattern known as 'Royal Lily' or 'Queen Charlotte' pattern, c1790. There are no manufacturer's marks on this tea bowl, but is Worcester of this period.

The charming design in blue is a stylised lily flower set in vertical panels around the body of the coffee can. It is a very attractive and striking design in blue. This design is bounded top and bottom by a darker cobalt blue border on which are alternating panels of gilt geometric and floral designs. This border pattern is repeated around the inner rim of the tea bowl. In the base of the coffee can, there is a stylised flower in blue and gold.

Marks:

There are no manufacturer's marks on this tea bowl, but is Worcester of the c1790 period.

Condition:

This tea bowl does have some damage. It has a tight hairline crack to one side of the bowl, this is illustrated in the two pictures below and runs between the blue arrows.

There is also some ware to the gilding, especially so round the rim of the tea bowl on the blue border decoration.

Despite the hairline crack and wear to some of the gilding it is still a very pretty example piece of a Worcester 'Royal Lily' or Queen Charlotte' pattern tea bowl from the Eighteenth cnetury.
