This is the cover to a Caughley sugar bowl, or sucrier. It is a circular domed lid that has around pointed and gilded finial and is decorated with the 'Fisherman and Cormorant' pattern, c1780.

The two blue and white printed scenes include the fisherman stood on his boat in one scene and the cormorant sat on the rocks in the other.

There are no manufacturer's marks.

Condition:

This Caughley sucrier cover is in very good condition, with no cracks, chips, repairs or restoration. the only very minor imperfection is one tiny patch of the gilding missing on the rim, shown below and a little wear to the gilding on the point of the finial.
