Spode Sauce Tureen Lid, exquisitely decorated with bright blue convolvulus (morning glory) flowers, rich gilding and fruit shaped gilded finial, c1820

The decoration includes the most vivid blue convolvulus flowers, having blue and white trumpets with yellow bases. These delightful flowers have gilded foliage and smother the entire surface of the cover.

The stunning finial of the cover is of a moulded fruit type, richly gilded. There is a moulded and partially gilded border rim to the cover. there is a cut out in the rim for the sauce ladle to sit with the lid on the sauce tureen.

The cover is marked on the underside with a red printed Spode mark, which is 'Spode Felspar porcelain' and includes the pattern number  which appears to be 68.

Marks:

The cover is marked on the underside with a red printed Spode mark, which is 'Spode Felspar porcelain' and includes the pattern number  which appears to be 68. This mark was used between c1815 - 1827.

Condition:

This Spode sauce tureen cover is in excellent condition.
