The tea bowl is of the charming reeded form with a scalloped rim
and sits upon a raised foot rim.

The applied decoration is absolutely exquisite and in remarkably
excellent condition. The gilding used for the decoration is very bright,
rich and so very fine in its detail. The main part of the body is decorated with
oval festoons, between which are draped further foliate festoons. Inside the
oval medallions is a gilt paterae, or flower head, very much in the neo
classical taste of the period.

Above this husk and paterae band of decoration is a fine gilded
husk line around the top of the tea bowl. the scalloped rim is also beautifully
gilded.

There is a line of a 'vitruvian scroll' of gilt decoration
running round the raised foot rim of the tea bowl. This is also repeated on the
inside of the tea bowl's rim.

In the base of the tea bowl is a beautifully executed floral
bouquet in rich gold.

The saucer, like the tea bowl is of a fine reeded shape with an
elegantly scalloped rim.

The saucer carries the same very rich and finely decorated
design of the 'husk and paterae' design. It has the same main decoration of the five oval husk festoons inside which is the gilded paterae or flower head. These
oval festoons are linked with draped husk festoons. In the centre of the saucer
there is the same vitruvian type gilded scroll circle that is applied to the rim
and foot of the tea bowl. Inside this circle is a further floral bouquet.

Around the rim of the saucer is a line of husks below which a
thick scalloped line with loops from which the oval festoons hang.

The body of the tea bowl and saucer are very fine in their
potting and show the typical Worcester translucency and colour. There are no
manufacturer's marks on either the tea bowl or saucer, but it is a tea bowl and
saucer from the famous Worcester factory, c1785.
This is a rare and extremely fine tea bowl and saucer from
the famous Worcester factory. It is in remarkable condition, with rich and crisp
