These delightful examples of Derby porcelain are of moulded 'kidney' shape and no doubt would have been part of a very grand dessert service in the beginning of the nineteenth century.

Dessert Dish 1:

This 'kidney' or 'Heart' shaped dessert dish is exquisitely decorated with beautiful pink roses in full flower evenly spaced around the bowl of the dish. The delicate use of various shades of pink give these roses a very nice soft and full appearance. Each rose has a few green rose leaves around it. There is then a fantastic set of gilded leaf sprays emanating from either side of the rose head diagonally.

Linking the rose heads is a garland of blue and red Chantilly flowers with green foliage, with their star like qualities. This charming garland of Chantilly flowers weaves its way round the bowl of the dish between the roses. This creates a most elegant and charming floral decoration around the dish.

In the centre of the dish is a gilt 'kidney' or 'heart' shaped line completing the decoration of this dessert dish.

The dish has a 'kidney' shaped raised foot rim in the middle of which is the Derby 'Red crown, baton and dots' mark. There are also the decorator's tally marks in the form of numerals.
