This very fine quality coffee and saucer is moulded with 'shanked' (or spiral) lines which was the latest design in fashion at the later period of the eighteenth century. These moulded lines are very finely potted and create a most decorative effect.

A rich under glaze Cobalt blue border runs around the inner rim of the coffee can, this is decorated with a trail of gilt leaves and berries. This decoration in blue and gilt is also applied to the saucer.

Around the outside of the coffee can there are three gilt Thistle flower and leaves.

The handle of the coffee can is a moulded open loop shape with applied gilt decoration on the back edge.

The saucer is decorated in the same fashion as the coffee can.

A rich under glaze Cobalt blue border runs around the inner rim of the saucer, this is decorated with a trail of gilt leaves and berries.

In the base of the saucer is a circular cartouche formed by a line of under glaze blue bounded by a gilt line on the outer edge and a scalloped gilt line on the inner edge. Inside this circle is a gilded Thistle flower and leaves.
