The teapot is of a smooth sided oval shape, popular at the beginning of the nineteenth century. There is a shallow domed cover with a charming open loop handle.

The teapot has a short, but well formed spout, beautifully balance by the open loop handle with thumb piece at the top.

There is a cobalt blue band around the shoulder of the teapot on which is an elegant foliate and ribbon gilt decoration in a rich honey coloured gold.

Flower sprigs are applied to each side of the teapot, around the cover and repeated on the oval stand. The rich gilding is also applied to the back of the handle and to the spout.

The cobalt blue band gives a rich dark blue which is a perfect foil for the honey rich gilding applied to it. the gilding is in remarkably good condition and shines out beautifully. the foliate and ribbon decoration on the blue band is very finely executed.

There are three large gilded flower sprigs on each side of the teapots body. the centre one is of a 'morning glory' flower, a flower popular at this time and can often be seen represented in materials of the day.

Around the base of the teapot is a thin cobalt blue and gilded line and then a further gilded line around the foot of the teapot.

The short but well formed spout is embellished with gilt decoration on all sides. the front of the spout has a particularly lovely foliate sprig. the tip of the spout is also gilded.

There is an elegant open high loop handle, which incorporated a flying thumb piece on the top portion to aid lifting and pouring for the teapot.

As with the spout, the handle is also richly gilded. On the back of the handle the same fine foliate sprig that is applied to the front of the spout.

The oval low domed cover of the teapot carries a repeat of the decoration applied to the teapot.

The edge of the cover has the beautiful cobalt blue and gilded band and the same gilded flower sprigs adorn the cover.

The cover has a very elegant open looped handle, which has fine gilding applied to it.

There are no manufacturers marks on the teapot, but is from the Worcester factory c1805.

The accompanying original teapot stand, is of the same oval or elliptical shape. It carries exactly the same decoration as the teapot and cover.

It has the rich cobalt blue band with applied gilding and flower sprigs

In the centre of the stand there is an oval cartouche formed by a thin cobalt blue and gilded line in which is the gilded 'morning glory' flower.

Again, there are no manufacturers marks on the base of the teapot stand.

Condition:

This beautiful teapot and stand are in quite good condition. The gilding and decoration are extremely good a fresh, especially the gilding which does not have any rubbing. the cover is in perfect condition. The teapot does have a short hairline crack to its body, as shown in the pictures below, but this is a tight little crack.

The stand does have a star crack to it, which I have shown in the pictures below. Despite this, it is still appears very firm. The decoration, as with the teapot and cover is in very good condition. There are a few small frit type chips to the raised foot rim of the stand, which may actually be from the time of manufacture and are of no consequence. So this teapot cover and stand displays excellently and is a very fine example from the famous English Worcester factory..

This beautiful teapot, cover and stand from the Worcester factory are a very finely decorated set that would be perfect for display and ideal for the collector of Worcester or early English porcelain.
