It is so often rare now to find the teapot complete with cover
and its stand. The stand to this teapot is of a pleasing hexagonal shape and
carries the same charming decoration.

The teapot is of a moulded barrel shape, having a feather
moulded handle and beautifully moulded and decorated spout. The drop in cover of
the teapot has a button shaped gilded finial.

This very pretty teapot is beautifully decorated with a blue
and white print of an oriental landscape which includes a large pagoda. There are
islands with houses, rocks and trees. There is a delightful oriental bridge over the water
on which are two figurers are to be
seen crossing. The blue of this decoration is very vivid and rich looking. This
landscape pattern appears on both sides of the teapot.

Around the shoulder of the teapot's body is a decorative band of blue
decoration, which is edged at the bottom with a gilt line below which is a gilt
scalloped line and dots.

There is an open loop handle to the teapot. This is beautifully
moulded with a feather like moulding. It is then embellished with blue floral
decoration and gilding.
On the top edge and bottom of the handle there are moulded and
gilded hearts.

The spout of the teapot is also beautifully moulded and
embellished with underglaze blue floral decoration. There is the same gilded
half circle and dot decoration running up both sides of the spout. Also, further
gilding is applied to the underside of the spout with scrolls and dots.

The circular cover of the teapot is exquisitely decorated in the same design as the
teapot's body and has the same gilded rim. The quality of the
blue and white decoration is wonderful, so very detailed and clear.

The teapot stands on a raised circular foot rim which has a
gilded line running round it. There is no manufacturer's mark on the underside
of the teapot or cover, but it is Caughley c1785 and from a large service where
many other pieces were marked with the underglaze blue Caughley Salopian mark,
used at the factory c 1775-90.

The very pretty teapot stand is beautifully decorated with the
same blue
and white print of an oriental landscape which includes a large pagoda. There
are islands with houses, rocks and trees. Between the islands sails a boat and
there is a delightful oriental bridge crossing over the water. There are two
figures to be seen crossing the bridge. The blue of this decoration is very vivid and rich
in appearance.

The hexagonal rim of the teapot stand has a gilded rim to it and
around the inside flat plate of the teapot stand runs a gilt band of decoration
comprising a dot and chain pattern between two gilt lines.

There is no manufacturer's mark on the base of the teapot stand,
but it originated from the Caughley factory c1785 and is a very fine and
attractive teapot stand belonging to this teapot.
This is a rare Caughley barrel shaped Teapot and hexagonal
Stand, decorated with Blue & White 'Pagoda' Landscape Pattern with gilding,

There is no manufacturer's mark on the underside of the teapot, cover or

This rare and charmingly decorated 'Pagoda' pattern teapot and teapot stand
is in very good condition with no cracks, repairs or restoration. The only minor
imperfection is a little tiny flake chip to the underside of the cover's rim,
but this is very small.
It is certainly a very good condition and delightful teapot
and teapot stand for the connoisseur collector of Caughley or early English
porcelain porcelain.
