A most exquisite garniture set of three Derby vases, decorated in the 'Imari' pattern in blue, flame orange, red, green with sumptuous rich honey colour gilding. It is nice to see a set of three such vases from the famous English Derby  factory that are in such good condition. These vases are a beautiful set that would look stunning on a mantelpiece or or table.

Each of the three vases are marked in iron red with the Derby 'Crown and D mark', together with the pattern number '30', also in iron red. These charming vases date from c1815.

Each vase is styled and decorated in the same way. The set comprises one central large vase and two smaller side vases to give a fantastic formal garniture.

The body of the vases are decorated with an Imari stylised floral design using the standard colours of flame orange, green, red and underglaze dark blue. This type of design was very popular at this period c1810-20.

The vase handles are very beautiful, with an elegant open loop, moulded with acanthus leaves on the back, a circular flower head at the top and terminating in a satire head at the base. These handles are beautifully detailed and gilded with a very rich honey coloured gilding. This gilding really does glow in sunlight.

The vases stand upon a square pedestal foot. The foot has a rich dark underglaze blue edge, this embellished with gilt chain decoration.

The underside of the vase is clearly marked with the Derby mark in iron red on the base.

Condition:

Generally this stunning garniture set of three Derby vases is in extremely good condition. The gilding is in very good condition, with only minimal wear. The only extremely minor imperfections are shown below:

Large Vase:

The only minor imperfections to this large vase is one little chip on the body rim (shown in the first two pictures below) and a minute flake chip to the square base foot (shown in the third picture). This are very minor and do not detract from this amazing vase.

Small Vase 2:

The only minor imperfection to this vase is a hairline crack across one of the handles near to the moulded circular flower at the top end of the handle. This is shown in the three pictures below. This hairline crack is quite stable and not a problem.

Apart for the very few imperfections listed above, this garniture is an excellent and very decorative set for the collector of fine early English Derby porcelain.
