A most attractive and elegant Chestnut basket. This Chestnut
basket is of circular form with tapering sides pierced with overlapping circles
with florets applied at the intersections. The base of the bowl is printed with
a blue and white print known as the 'pinecone' pattern.

The rim of the chestnut basket is also decorated in blue and
white with a border known as a lambrequin border.

The pinecone pattern and blue and white border are very crisp
and clear. The pinecone pattern includes fruits and flowers together with
pinecones and foliage.

There are delightful moulded flower heads at the intersections
of the interlaced pierced circular sides of the basket. Each of the flower heads
are partially embellished with blue decoration to the centre and individual
petals..

Marks:
The underside of the basket is marked with a blue 'f' type mark and there is
also an impressed '4'.

This very elegant Chestnut basket is in good condition with no chips, repairs
or restoration. There is just one fine crack through one of the interlaced
circles, as shown below, but this is not a problem to the strength of the basket
and does not detract in any way. also the glaze does show signs of fine
'crazing'.
