Spode Jug, Oval Canoe Shape With Elegant Gilt Decoration, Marked 'Spode' and Pattern Number '341', c1810-20

This is a very elegant canoe shaped oval Spode cream or milk jug, marked 'Spode' and pattern number 341 in orange.

This delightful  jug was made at the English Spode factory c1810-20 and the shape is typical of this early nineteenth century period. The Spode factory used this type of mark with the pattern number between c1790-1820.

The jug is decorated in a rich honey coloured gilded design of simple gilt bands and a foliate garland around the shoulder.

The rim of the jug is also gilded. the jug has a very sleek handle with a thumb piece at the top for a tight grip when it is used.

The back edge of the handle is also embellished with gilt foliate decoration.

This is an elegant Spode Jug, with gilt decoration, marked 'Spode' and Pattern Number '341', c1810-20.

Marks:

The jug is marked 'Spode' and pattern number 341 in orange. The Spode factory used this type of mark with the pattern number between c1790-1820.

Condition:

This delightful Spode jug is inn excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration. The only extremely minor imperfection is a little wear to the gilding on the very tip of the pouring lip, as shown in the picture below.
