The slops bowl is beautifully hand painted with the colourful bouquets and flower sprigs in pinks, purple, orange and two tones of green. It is certainly a most elegant and delicate design.

The slops bowl has a smooth body shape and the bowl sits upon a raised circular foot rim. The out side of the bowl is decorated with the main flower bouquet which includes purple 'aster' type flowers, pink and orange flowers with two tone green foliage. The bouquet is tied with an orange ribbon.

As well as the main bouquet of flowers, evenly spaced around the rest of the bowl are three single 'rose' type flower sprigs in the same colours used in the bouquet of pink and purple.

On the inside of the bowl it is decorated around the rim with a very pretty border which comprises a pair of closely situated thin black lines about which oscillates a garland of stylised pink flowers with green swags of foliage. There are also orange tiny flower buds on the garland.

Inside the bowl on the bottom is a single flower sprig. Altogether a very pretty pattern.

This is a most exquisite New Hall Slops Bowl, Pattern 161, stylistic flower sprigs and bouquet decoration, flower and foliage garland border, c1795.
