Worcester Jug of 'New Fluted' design, Cobalt Blue and Gilt decoration, c1780(p1170) A most beautiful and elegant Worcester jug from c1780. This beautiful jug is of the 'new fluted' moulded design that is decorated with a rich underglaze cobalt blue border with applied rich honey coloured gilding. It is marked on the inside of the foot rim with a gilder's mark of a script 'N'. To check price and availability:

The underside rim of the foot has a decorator's scrip 'N' mark on it. The Worcester tea set from which this jug came was nearly all marked with the Worcester open Crescent mark used at the famous Worcester factory c1755-90, the jug however does not bare that mark.

This charming early Worcester jug is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration. The cobalt blue band has bled a little during the manufacture, but this is not a fault. The gilding for the most part is in excellent condition with only a little wear to the lines on the handle and a few of the high points around the rim, as shown in the pictures below. It is certainly a very fine jug for the collector of eighteenth century Worcester.
