The main body of the toast rack is formed by an elliptical shaped frame with a lateral stretcher running through the centre of the toast rack. From this under frame rises graduated toast compartments in semi-elliptical form. The central wire support is surmounted with the oval shaped loop handle.

The toast rack stands proudly on four splayed out bracket feet.

There is an open loop handle to the toast rack which is of an oval form, also produced in circular cross sectioned silver wire.

There are four bracket feet to the toast rack, each of a splayed bracket shape. Each foot has an engraved line round it to high-light its shape.

At one end of the main frame is the initials of the owner of the toast rack in Gothic lettering. Then on the under-side of the frame is the full set of hallmarks, a full description of which are given in the marks section below.

Condition:

This beautiful toast rack is in good condition with no major repairs or restoration. The only small repairs that I think may have been carried out are the re-making of a few of the joints where the wire compartments pierce through the frame on the underside of the toast rack, but this does not detract from this very elegant and collectable toast rack from the eighteenth century. A fine piece of domestic English silver for the collector.
