The body of the sucrier is an elegant oval shape with vertical moulded fluting to the shoulder. It has a wide band of applied brown and gilt decoration in neo-classical style comprising gilt scrolling foliage with brown leaves and flowers running between two thick gilt lines. This gives a very light feel to this very fine decoration.

Above the brown and gilt band of decoration there are simple flower sprigs dotted around the shoulder of the sucrier.

There is a gilt line applied to the rim and around the base of the sucrier.

There are two scroll shaped handles to the sucrier, each embellished with gilt decoration.

The rim of the sucrier has a concave profile into which the cover fits beautifully. The cover has the same decorative band of brown and gilt decoration applied to it as well as the gilt lines bounding this band and round the top of the cover.

The cover has a delightfully shaped finial that is a characteristic shape used by the Coalport factory. This elegant oval finial with its upwardly curving ends is embellished with gilt decoration.
