The dish is of a deep lozenge shape raised on a lozenge shaped foot rim.

The decoration of this charming dish is of a blue printed pattern showing a boy riding a buffalo in an oriental scene. The boy rides towards a man and another boy in the fields who holds a tree branch in his hand. Behind the characters are distant hills and to their right a house and temple.

The house and temple in the scene are surrounded by trees and mountains.

Above the main scene of the boy riding the buffalo, there is an Island on which grows tall bamboo plants. The detail in this charming print is very good, the print is very clear and in a rich dark blue colour.

There is an oriental style blue and white wide border running round the rim of the dish, this interrupted with motifs of fans and flowers creating a most decorative band of decoration.

This beautiful Pearlware dish is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration, the blue and white print is in very crisp condition too. The only extremely minor imperfection is a manufacturing blemish of a small crack on the foot rim, this is original to the manufacture, so not later damage and is perfectly sound and does not detract from this lovely desert dish.
