Caughley Teapot Stand, Hexagonal Shape With Gilt Decoration, c1795

A charming Caughley teapot stand, made at the famous Caughley factory c1795. This delightful teapot stand is beautifully shaped. It has vertically moulded sides to its rim and is of an hexagonal shape.

The decoration of this item is of a simple foliate tendril round the base of the teapot stand.

There is also a pretty gilded rose flower sprig in the centre of the base of the teapot stand around which is a circular gilded panel.

The rim of the teapot stand is also gilded.

The underside of the teapot stand is unglazed on the base, this remaining in the biscuit state.

There are no manufacturer's marks on this teapot stand, but I attribute it to the Caughley factory and it would date c1795.

	5½" (140mm) in diameter across the flats of the hexagon.
	6" (152mm) across the points of the hexagon.
	1" (23mm) depth of the sides of the teapot stand.
	5½oz (155gms) in weight.

Marks:

There are no manufacturer's marks on this teapot stand, but I attribute it to the Caughley factory and it would date c1795.

Condition:

this superb Caughley teapot stand is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration. the only minor imperfection being some wear to the gilding in places. It is s delightful teapot stand for the collector of Caughley or early English porcelain.
