The jug is of oval form and has a smooth body with elegantly shaped pouring lip. There is a curved loop shaped handle.

The body of the jug is decorated all round with the fruiting vine pattern depicted in the typical Imari colours. There is an under glaze blue used to create the trunk of the vine. From this blue trunk emanate a wealth of fine gilt branches. Hanging on the branches are bunches of orange grapes and vine leaves outlined in gilded line form with dotted leaf veins.

Around the base and shoulder and rim of the jug is a gilded band. The gilding on this jug is of the rich honey colour that is to be found on such early English wares.

The open loop shaped handle has a gilded line running down the centre of the back edge as well as on both sides of the handle.

On the top face of the pouring lip is a very pretty gilded pattern of a central oval flower cartouche about which hang garlands of gilded foliage.

The underside of the jug is marked with the New Hall pattern number of 446.
