(p1295)
A charming Worcester Milk Jug, beautifully decorated by hand with cornflower sprigs and garlands, c1795. Although there is no manufacturer's mark on this items, I believe it to be from the Worcester factory.

The circular body of this jug is of a 'shanked and waisted' form. It is decorated around the main body with hand painted 'Cornflower' sprigs in blue, pink and green enamels.
Around the shoulder of the jug is a garland of 'Cornflowers' linked by green foliage.
The shapely rim of the jug is gilded, as is the back edge of the handle. Also there is a gilded ring around the base of the jug.
There is an elegant open loop handle with an inner spur towards the base of the handle which terminates to the jugs body with a little scroll.
Although there is no manufacturer's mark on this item, I believe it to be from the Worcester factory.
This elegant Milk Jug is in generally very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration. The only minor imperfection is extremely slight wear to the gilded rim of the jug, also there are some spots of kiln smut in the base of the jug, as shown below.
