A very elegant little 'First Period' Worcester milk jug dating from c1770. This delightful jug has a pear shaped body that is exquisitely decorated by hand with finely painted on glaze naturalistic flower sprays. It has a pretty sparrow beak shaped pouring lip and a moulded loop handle.

The main decoration of the jug on the left hand side is of a beautiful flower bouquet, this having delightfully colourful flowers. The flowers are set against rich green and bronze foliage, this given detail in fine gilt lining.

On the right hand side of the jug is a smaller flower spray and then several single flower sprays towards the front of the jug.

Inside the rim of the jug is a painted red line below which is a scalloped line and dots to form a pretty and decorative border.

The handle to the jug is of a simple loop form that is moulded with an impressed line down the back of it, giving it a very pleasing profile.

The jug stands upon a circular raised foot rim. The body of the jug is translucent when held to strong light and shows the characteristic Worcester porcelain 'duck egg' blue colour.

There are no manufacturer's marks to this jug, but it is a Worcester jug that dates from c1770 and is a fine example of their fine workmanship.
